My Approach
Every book journey is different, but most authors start with these 10 smart questions about
working with me:
1. Who do you help?
First-time and experienced authors with something meaningful to share. That's you! It could be your life experiences, your expertise, or your personal journey. Many people I work with are in midlife or beyond, and they are looking to transform decades of insight into lasting work. I also partner with top agents and editors to help authors succeed.
2. How do we begin?
With extensive experience in both traditional and indie publishing, we start with a discussion of your goals and budget (as well as my honest insights based on decades in the byzantine book industry). If I’m booked, or if I'm not the right fit, I'll happily provide my list of reputable referrals. I also collaborate regularly with top agents and editors.
3. What’s the process?
No matter which publishing path you’re on, we start by mapping out a clear timeline and typically meet weekly online with an agenda and deliverables. Landed a book deal? Congrats! I collaborate closely with your editor to ensure the manuscript aligns with the publisher’s expectations while staying true to your voice.

4. What about AI?
Glad you asked. In brief, like any powerful new technological tool, it has its uses. I'm eager to hear what you think. But it can't write your book for you. (Sorry!) Now, if you're asking whether AI will turn us all into soul-sucking robots, I haven't a clue and you're on the wrong website.
5. Can this fit into my overloaded schedule?
I work with real people living real lives, so we create a schedule that works for you.
6. How do you turn my expertise into a book that stands out?
I offer customized support to help you position your ideas in a crowded market. We identify trends and look for tone and structure that resonate with you. And, of course, readers.
7. How much does this cost?
First, I'll want to know your budget. I offer fair, transparent pricing, by the hour or editorial package, outlined upfront in writing. No surprises.
8. Do you use the Oxford comma?
Yes. And I will die on that hill.
9. What writing baggage can you unpack?
That high school teacher who flunked you for not following the “introduction–topic sentence–yawn” essay formula. I’ve worked with clients who didn’t write for decades because of that one experience. We junk that rule book and find your real voice.
10. But I’m not a big reader or writer!
You don’t have to be. I’ve helped brilliant non-writers turn their expertise and life stories into books they’re proud of. That’s what collaboration is all about.
