Selecting a Collaborator

Personal rapport is essential. A ghostwriter or editor may have dazzling publishing credentials, but it’s vital to work with someone with whom you feel at ease. During your first meetings, consider if you’d enjoy spending time with them. Are you comfortable sharing your innermost thoughts with this person? Do they ask insightful questions that encourage deep reflection? Do they understand the essence of your project and its message? If not, keep looking for the right collaborator.

Here’s an intriguing question that I’ve encountered from potential clients: “Which books, movies, TV shows, and podcasts have captivated you?" A shared enjoyment of story and narrative can offer valuable insights about the potential for a successful collaboration.

Keep in mind that your potential collaborator is also assessing you, deciding if you’re the right fit for them, too.

Referrals are common in our business. If you have specific requirements that fall outside their expertise, an experienced ghostwriter/editor can likely recommend other professionals who can meet your needs.
